Incubation period
During the incubation period mushroom spawn spread out its mycelium in the straw which can be seen after 48hrs the incubation period can last for 15-25days depending upon climatic conditions. The suitable temperature for oyster mushroom during incubation is 20 Celcius -24 celcius and humidity below 70%.
Many growers usually spray water during incubation which is very harmful to the new bags as there is enough moisture inside bags to spread mycelium
Remember keep the room hygiene and closed so that carbon dioxide (Co2) concentration inside the room increases which is helpful for the mycelium.
Fruiting Period
Three factor that help mushroom to make fruiting bodies are.
1. Temperature : There are different type of oyster mushroom in which it develops fruiting body at different temperature between 10celcius -28celcius .
Ask your spawn laboratory for suitable spawn
2. Relative Humidity : Understand in Oyster mushroom there is 90% water contain inside a fruiting body, so it rarely require moisture because inside a bag it already maintained. So increase the humidity only if relative humidity is less than it 80-95% inside fruiting chamber.
3. Cross Ventilation : In oyster mushroom cultivation large amount of oxygen and less carbon dioxide is required during fruiting period. It mea that give proper ventilation atlest for 6-8 hours depending upon your unit construction.
Harvesting period
Fruiting cycle can last for 7-14 days depending upon size of your unit. Mushroom fruit body can take between 3-5 days depending upon climatic condition.
Always try to plug your mushroom early morning before water spraying in your unit.
If there is low humidity then water spray should be done 12 hours before pluging your mushroom.
Oyster Mushroom can easily plug just you have to turn clockwise and anti-clockwise and cut the bottom part with the sharp knife(if there is straw attached).
