The roots of Prakriti Mushroom & Spawn Lab trace back to Dehradun, Uttarakhand, where our founder’s fascination with mushrooms began at a very young age. Surrounded by lush forests, the seasonal rains would reveal an array of colorful fungi — sparking a lifelong passion.
This early curiosity evolved into a deep interest in edible and medicinal mushrooms, inspiring extensive exploration, identification, and study of species such as Termitomyces, Chanterelles, and other gourmet varieties found in the wild.
The Journey from Passion to Business
Recognizing India’s untapped potential for mushroom cultivation — despite favorable climate conditions and strong market demand — we decided to bridge the gap. Starting with oyster mushroom farming, chosen for its simplicity and cost-effectiveness, we steadily expanded to a wide range of species, including:
